The work's central theme is the history of Palestine. Armaly (who is of Libanese-Palestinian descent) digitalized the surface of a stone, which for him is a symbol of the world and of architecture, as well as a weapon. The resulting grid pattern is pasted to the floor of the documenta-Hall in the style of a schematic map of the Palestinian Territories.
In addition, together with the Palestinian filmmaker Raschid Masharawi, Armaly presents a multi-media portrait of the region.
