Archivo Tucumán Arde. 1968-2007

For the group of avant-garde artists, art was an instrument of social change. The project "Tucumán Arde" (Tucumán is burning) sought to make the public aware of the immiseration of the population of the northern Argentinean province Tucumán.
In 1968, the exhibition "Tucumán Arde" was initially shown for two weeks in the city of Rosario. In Buenos Aires, the police closed it on the very day it opened. It is considered one of the most important examples of political and investigative art in Latin America. Graciela Carnevale, who was a participant from the beginning, kept an archive with photos, manifestos, reports, and documentations.
