Time Notes. 2006
Performances and mixed media installation
Gustavo Romano designed money with time units as its currency. In August of 2006 he strolled the Orchard Road, the most important shopping street of Singapore, "loosing" those bills - loosing time. A video documented the pedestrians' reactions.
A money-exchange booth was built on Orchard Road for another performance. Pedestrians were asked about their opinions on the new Time Notes money system and about equivalents they would be prepared to exchange for a time-unit, meaning a bill designed by the artist. The money and objects, representing the exchange, are shown in display cabinets in the City Hall.
