The Transubstantiation. 2005
Eight channel video installation
The artist examines the relationship between two and three-dimensional ways of representation. He bases his work on Raphael's "The Transfiguration" (1518-1520). Eight models re-enacted the theatrical poses shown in Raphael's painting and were videoed from all angles and sides. Shin Il Kim transformed these video sequences into 2.880 drawings and projects those on eight screens, thus showing rotating figures.
