Clarke Quay

19th century old warehouse district. Named after Sir Andrew Clarke, 1873 - 1875 Governor of the Straits Settlements (territories of the British East India Company in Southeast-Asia, including Singapore; Crown Colony).

The Clarke Quay Festival Village project was launched in late 1993 as the largest attempt to preserve and restore the waterfront of the Singapore River. Today the district is known for its restaurants, bars and nightclubs.
