Our Special deals with the presence of artists from Africa, the Americas and Asia/Pacific in the documenta X. An aperture in this respect had been expected from the artistic director Catherine David. However, the result was rather disappointing. As prologue, we publish quotations from Catherine David's declarations as well as from commentary with regard to the inclusion of "non-Western" art in the dX. Since the organizers hardly offer information about the exhibiting artists and their works on the official website, we have at least presented in picture and text the participants who are especially interesting for us in the context of our project.
