Fullerton building: Former General Post Office, built from 1924 to 1928, Art Deco style. Named after Robert Fullerton, the first governor of the Straits settlement (territories of the British East India Company in Southeast-Asia, including Singapore; Crown Colony). Later on the building was used by the exclusive Singapore Club and various governmental offices (eg. Finance Office). Since its re-opening in 2001, after 6 years of extensive renovation, the Fullerton is a five-star luxury hotel.
Anderson Bridge:
Built in 1910. Named after Sir John Anderson, 1904-1911 Governor of the Straits Settlements and High Commissioner of the Federated Malay States (Pahang, Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan). The Federation was established by the British in 1895 and was under their control until 1946).
